Child Abuse

Child abuse is any act that involves emotional, physical or sexual abuse of a child as well as neglect. It can involve a pattern of incidents or can be a single act that harms or endangers the development, survival, safety, self-esteem, and / or growth of a child.

The following resources are meant as a guide to help those who are victims of child abuse, and / or suspect child abuse is occurring for someone they know.

If you believe a child is being abused, call the police service closest to you (e.g. Banff RCMP 403 762-2226 / Canmore RCMP 403 678-5516) or report this abuse to Alberta Child and Youth Services at 1-800-387-KIDS.

If you would like more information regarding any of the topics listed below, or you would like to speak to some about your child abuse, please contact Bow Valley Victim Services or phone 403 760-0197.  We would be pleased to be of assistance to you.
